Graphical model approximations of random finite set filters

چکیده

Random finite sets (RFSs) has been a fruitful area of research in recent years, yielding new approximate filters such as the probability hypothesis density (PHD), cardinalised PHD (CPHD), and multiple target multiBernoulli (MeMBer). These new methods have largely been based on approximations that side-step the need for measurement-to-track association. Comparably, RFS methods that incorporate data association, such as Morelande and Challa’s (M-C) method, have received little attention. This paper provides a RFS algorithm that incorporates data association similarly to the M-C method, but retains computational tractability via a recently developed approximation of marginal association weights. We describe an efficient method for resolving the track coalescence phenomenon which is problematic for joint probabilistic data association (JPDA) and related methods (including M-C). The method utilises a network flow optimisation, and thus is tractable for large numbers of targets. Finally, our derivation also shows that it is natural for the multi-target density to incorporate both a Poisson point process (PPP) component (representing targets that have never been detected) and a multi-Bernoulli component (representing targets under track). We describe a method of recycling, in which tracks with a low probability existence are transferred from the multi-Bernoulli component to the PPP component, effectively yielding a hybrid of M-C and PHD.

Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis of Bending of Straight Beams Using hp-Spectral Approximations

Displacement finite element models of various beam theories have been developed using traditional finite element interpolations (i.e., Hermite cubic or equi-spaced Lagrange functions). Various finite element models of beams differ from each other in the choice of the interpolation functions used for the transverse deflection w, total rotation φ and/or shear strain γxz, or in the integral form u...

Unified cardinalized probability hypothesis density filters for extended targets and unresolved targets

The unified cardinalized probability hypothesis density (CPHD) filters for extended targets and unresolved targets are proposed. The theoretically rigorous measurementupdate equations for the proposed filters are derived according to the theory of random finite set (RFS) and finite-set statistics (FISST). By assuming that the predicted distributions of the extended targets and unresolved target...

Bayesian Learning in Undirected Graphical Models: Approximate MCMC Algorithms

Bayesian learning in undirected graphical models—computing posterior distributions over parameters and predictive quantities— is exceptionally difficult. We conjecture that for general undirected models, there are no tractable MCMC (Markov Chain Monte Carlo) schemes giving the correct equilibrium distribution over parameters. While this intractability, due to the partition function, is familiar...

Dual Decomposition Inference for Graphical Models over Strings

We investigate dual decomposition for joint MAP inference of many strings. Given an arbitrary graphical model, we decompose it into small acyclic sub-models, whose MAP configurations can be found by finite-state composition and dynamic programming. We force the solutions of these subproblems to agree on overlapping variables, by tuning Lagrange multipliers for an adaptively expanding set of var...

Graphical Model Sketch

Structured high-cardinality data arises in many domains, and poses a major challenge for both modeling and inference. Graphical models are a popular approach to modeling structured data but they are unsuitable for high-cardinality variables. The count-min (CM) sketch is a popular approach to estimating probabilities in high-cardinality data but it does not scale well beyond a few variables. In ...
